Come Home
To Yourself, To Your Relationships, To the Place Where You Live
Therapy in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara Counties
Why come home?
Because home is so much more than the place where we spent our childhood.
Home is a place we carry inside ourselves.
It’s our fundamental sense of who we are and who we want to be.
It is where our true self lives.
We can leave home, but home never truly leaves us.
Making peace with our childhood home –
our parents, our siblings, our extended families, the culture in which we were raised, and the assumptions and values we absorbed
– is not optional if we want to live rich, fulfilled lives today.
Knowing ourselves, and being at
ease with ourselves, is the key to meaningful relationships.
Liking who we are lets us create the kind of space around us that expresses our best selves.
Whether you are looking for individual therapy, relationship counseling, or help restoring order to a cluttered home, starting with yourself is the first step.
And that you can do.
Do not go where the path may lead.
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hi, I’m
Margaret Seawell.
MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPIST, Ph.D.
Most of the people who make their way to my office think of themselves as being on an untraditional path. A path that wasn’t necessarily what they planned.
In fact, many come to therapy to figure out how they got to where they are. And, more importantly, how to move forward to create the life they want – instead of the life they were supposed to want.
Sounds easy enough, perhaps. But such changes in direction can mean reshaping relationships, setting new boundaries, changing careers, living into a new identity.
And that takes courage.
I see my job as supporting you in defining the changes you want to make and walking alongside you as you make them.
